Second Public Comment Period for ICC Log Building Standards

The results of the Log Standard Committee actions and the strike out underline version of the technical changes have been posted to the ICC website. http://www.iccsafe.org/cs/standards/is-log/index.html

The due date for public comments on this text is March 5th, 2006. After those comments are resolved it is the intention to have a new code change submitted by the March deadline for code changes to be included in the next supplement for a reference to the Log Standard in both the IBC and IRC. Affirmative action on this will then result in the Standard reference being included in the 2009 code text.

Public comment can only be submitted in reference to the changes that were affected by the first comment period, ie,. no comments will be considered by the committee on context that was not addressed during the period of July/ August 2005. For example, if you still have issue with the definition of "Check(ing)" and since that definition was not challenged at the first Public comment period, it will not be re-visited. However, everyone is invited to submit their new comments, in strike-out, underline format (as directed on the submittal form by ICC), on any aspect of the Provisions for Settling in Log Structures, per section 304, for instance, which has been re-written and re-organized.

For further information and support, please contact the ILBA office, with ICC Log Standard as your subject-line.

Please be diligent in reviewing this Standard, as it is intended to assist you in the design, development, approval and construction of your log structures.
